Residential Inspection Form |
Savannah Volunteer Fire Company is now able to perform fire inspections for residential and commercial occupancies within the Fire Company coverage area. Our membership has several State of Ohio Fire Safety Inspectors. We have the flexibility to perform inspections any day of the week and are able to make a time that is reasonable for everyone.
There are many benefits to having a fire inspection. First off, they're free of charge to our residents and businesses. Our goal is to have a good working relationship between the Fire Company and the community. We are always open to discussing further improvements at your establishment and the proper steps to take to get a task or project completed. As Fire Safety Inspectors, we encourage everyone opt in to our inspection program which, after the initial inspection, we will get you on the calendar for an annual inspection.
Another benefit is it allows our members into local occupancies which let us see the layout of building(s) so in the event of an emergency, we know the best route of entry and how to safely manage an incident. This allows us to point out any violations within the building that could put your friends, family, and/or patrons in immediate danger in regards to life safety.
What to expect: When our inspection team shows up, you can expect our members to be in uniform identifying themselves as representatives of the Savannah Volunteer Fire Company. A typical inspection will have our members walking through all parts of the facility, including the "employee only" areas either with the manager or without. If we perform the inspection without the manager, we will then ask to sit down with the manager and discuss the violations, if any, we found. At this time we will also answer any other questions you may have, as well as given the timeline of when the violations need to be fixed and schedule a re-inspection to ensure violations have been fixed. A copy of the official inspection report will be given to the building manager or owner within 24 hours of the inspection.
Again, we do not charge for this service to the community in which we serve and are not attempting to find fault in our community. The goal of the inspections is to build and maintain good working relationships with the community and keep our community and its visitors safe. All reports are public record and can be obtained by a public records request to the Savannah Volunteer Fire Company.
